
Christ the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church will be joining local efforts to feed the hungry this holiday season by participating in the Hamden Community Services Thanksgiving Food Drive. The Hamden Food Bank, located at the Keefe Center, 11 Pine Street, will be accepting donations to fill and distribute Thanksgiving Meal Baskets to local families in need. Each year, Hamden Community Services provides Thanksgiving meal assistance to more than 500 Hamden families with the help of generous donors.
This year, the following donations are needed:
- Fresh or frozen turkeys
- Stuffing
- Boxed mashed potatoes or5-lb bags of white potatoes
- Yams
- Rice
- Jiffy Corn Muffin Mix
- Turkey gravy
- Canned/fresh vegetables
- Pasta
- Tomato sauce
Those wishing to donate to the church project are asked to bring turkeys and other perishable and non-perishable food items to Christ the Good Shepherd Lutheran, 600 Shepard Ave., on Sunday, November 14, if possible. For alternate drop-off arrangements, please contact Sharon Napolitano, project chair, at snapolitano1@yahoo.com, so that delivery can be made to the Hamden Food Bank by Friday, November 19. Thanksgiving Meal Basket distribution will begin in the Hamden community on Monday, November 22.
