Whether you like to go for leisurely walks, run marathons, swim an occasional lap or two, or bike around the block, you can be active this summer and support a great cause. Join members of Christ the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Hamden, Connecticut, as they “Walk the Walk” in support of Calumet July 1 through August 31.
Sign up online to be part of Team Christ the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church (CGSLC) to benefit the well-known outdoor ministry, which offers year-round camping programs and retreats for youth, adults and families.
Last year, 1,800 people (and pets) from across New England walked 269,775 miles, raising more than $115,000 for Calumet, located on beautiful Lake Ossipee in Freedom, New Hampshire. Team Christ the Good Shepherd Lutheran helped Calumet surpass its goals with a small but mighty team of eight—including one canine companion—who logged an impressive 1,194 miles.
This year’s Walk the Walk goal is to inspire at least 2,500 participants to walk, run, swim or bike 350,000 miles and raise $150,000 for Calumet’s Annual Fund, its most important charitable fund. Christ the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church is also looking to increase the size of its team roster. Participants will be asked to track their miles daily, July 1 through August 31, and report their mileage to CGSLC team captain Cyndi Hansard at designated intervals.
