Ashes were distributed to an estimated 350 people at the 2025 “Ashes-to-Go” observance held on Ash Wednesday, March 5, in the parking lot of Christ the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 600 Shepard Ave., Hamden. The Rev. Joshua Sullivan, pastor of Christ the Good Shepherd, and the Rev. Milton Brasher-Cunningham of Mount Carmel UCC distributed ashes to the public from 7:30 – 9:30 am and 11:30 am – 1:30 pm.
Some 260 cars stopped by the church, where the area faithful received ashes as a sign of their mortality, their baptism, and the start of this year’s 40-day Lenten journey to Easter. Donations totaling $150 were received and donated to Columbus House, New Haven.
