The Road to Recovery: Life After Breaking Free from the Sex-Trafficking Trade
When it comes to the horrors of sex trafficking, awareness is a first step. On Saturday, Sept. 14, Detective Gillian Gallagher from the Milford Police Department shared her experience and expertise on the subject during an afternoon Q&A session held at Christ the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Breaking free from this form of slavery, attendees learned, can be challenging.
On Saturday, Oct. 12, the public is invited to attend the second of this two-part series from 3 to 5 pm at Christ the Good Shepherd Lutheran, 600 Shepherd Ave., Hamden. Please join us as we hear what comes next for those trying to break free of the sex-trafficking trade. Our speaker will be Susan from the Salvation Army’s Bloom Initiative.
The Bloom Initiative works with survivors of sex and/or labor trafficking, male or female, ages 16 and up, who reside in Hartford, East Hartford, West Hartford, Wethersfield, Newington, Bloomfield and Windsor. The mission of the Bloom Initiative is to work alongside survivors of human trafficking on their journey from exploitation to empowerment.
Donations of new sneakers, travel-sized personal wipes, women’s underwear and gently used winter coats are being collected for trafficked women.
