As part of Christ the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church’s mission to help others in the community, we are participating in the United Way of Greater New Haven’s “Week of Caring,” which runs from October 10 to October 17, 2021. During this time, we will be collecting items for Cold-Weather Supply Kits, which will be taken to the United Way offices in New Haven for distribution to organizations that work with families in need.
High-priority items include sleeping bags, one- or two-person tents, and blankets. Other needed items include hats, scarves, gloves, and mittens. For health and safety reasons, all supplies must be new or unused. Also, please refrain from donating items that require a size (eg, coats), so that a wider range of people can be served.
Please bring your cold-weather donations to church on Sunday, October 10, or Sunday, October 17, during normal service times. We will also have an attended drop-off station set up in front of the church, located at 600 Shepard Ave., in Hamden, on Saturday, October 16, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Finally, please spread the word and share this announcement with friends and family members who may wish to participate in this mission project.
