It was an afternoon to remember as Christ the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church hosted “An Afternoon of Music” with Gemsong Productions Acoustic Duo with Carla Gemma featuring Ken SPiN on Saturday, Sept. 17. The outdoor concert began with a moving rendition of “The Star-Spangled Banner,” followed by a wide range of musical favorites across several genres of music, including pop, rock, disco, Motown and country.
Concert attendees were invited to request songs, Jukebox-style, for a donation to benefit Grace & St. Peter’s Dinner-for-a-Dollar ministry. Attendees eagerly complied, requesting the songs of Tina Turner, Pink Floyd, Ed Sheeran, 4 Non-Blondes, Pat Benatar, Janis Joplin, Credence Clearwater Revival and many more. The Dinner-for-a-Dollar Food Truck was also onsite throughout the afternoon, serving up hot dogs, hamburgers, pasta salad and desserts, raising additional funds for its ministry.
Admission to the concert was free, but attendees were asked to bring non-perishable food items to donate to the Hamden Food Bank.
