In observance of Ash Wednesday, five Hamden churches will present a town-wide worship service with the imposition of ashes on Wednesday, Feb. 14, at Grace & St. John’s Episcopal Church, 2927 Dixwell Ave., at 7 p.m. The pubic is invited to attend.
In addition to Grace & St. John’s, other congregations and clergy participating in this year’s ecumenical service include Christ the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Spring Glen United Church of Christ, Mount Carmel Congregational Church and Dunbar United Church of Christ.
All are welcome to join us for this musical, meaningful worship gathering, which marks the beginning of the Lenten season.
Earlier in the day, Christ the Good Shepherd at 600 Shepard Ave. will host an “Ashes-to-Go” event for anyone in the community who wishes to receive ashes as a sign of their mortality, baptism and Lenten Journey. Ashes will be distributed from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. and from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
