Christ the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Hamden, is joining local efforts to feed those in need this Thanksgiving by participating in the Hamden Community Services Thanksgiving Food Drive. Christ the Good Shepherd Lutheran will be collecting frozen turkeys and other traditional holiday fare through Sunday, Nov. 13, to help fill Thanksgiving Meal Baskets for delivery to area residents.
Last year, the congregation provided 10 frozen turkeys, along with hundreds of pounds of trimmings and other perishable and non-perishable food items in support of the Thanksgiving Meal Baskets.
This year, the following donations are needed:
- Frozen turkeys
- Stuffing
- Boxed mash potatoes or 5-pound bags of white potatoes
- Yams
- Rice
- Cornbread
- Gravy
- Canned/fresh vegetables
- Pasta
- Tomato Sauce
If you would like to help, please bring all items designated for the Thanksgiving Meal Baskets project to Christ the Good Shepherd, 300 Shepard Ave., by Sunday, Nov. 13. The food will be delivered to the Hamden Food Bank, 11 Pine Street, by Friday, Nov. 18, for delivery prior Thanksgiving Day holiday.
